What it is

About Zepbound®

Zepbound® (tirzepatide injection) is an FDA-approved prescription medication indicated for chronic weight management in adults with obesity (BMI ≥30) or overweight (BMI ≥27) with at least one weight-related condition, when used in conjunction with a reduced-calorie diet and increased physical activity. Zepbound® is manufactured by Eli Lilly and Company. It is a dual GIP (glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide) and GLP-1 receptor agonist — activating both hormone receptors to reduce appetite and improve metabolic regulation. Zepbound® is not a compounded medication — it is an FDA-approved finished drug product.

How to take it

Administration & dosing

Zepbound® is administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous injection using a pre-filled autoinjector pen. Your licensed provider will determine the appropriate starting dose and escalation schedule based on your individual medical history. The injection is typically given in the stomach, thigh, or upper arm. Doses are escalated gradually over several weeks under provider supervision. Store pen injectors in the refrigerator between 36°F and 46°F. Do not freeze. Do not use if you or a family member have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).
