About Compounded Semaglutide

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist — a class of medication that mimics a natural hormone your body produces after eating. It works by signaling your brain that you're full, slowing the rate at which food leaves your stomach, and helping regulate blood sugar levels. Compounded semaglutide contains the active pharmaceutical ingredient semaglutide and is prepared by licensed US 503A or 503B compounding pharmacies. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved finished drug products. A prescription from a licensed healthcare provider is required.

Administration & dosing

Semaglutide is administered as a once-weekly subcutaneous (under-the-skin) injection, typically into the stomach, thigh, or upper arm. Your licensed provider will determine the appropriate starting dose and escalation schedule based on your individual needs. Dose increases are made gradually under provider supervision. Full instructions and all supplies are included with every shipment. Administer on the same day each week, with or without food. Store between 36°F and 46°F.

Potential side effects

Common side effects (often improve over time): nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain/bloating, belching, headache, fatigue, reflux, or indigestion. Less common: dizziness, injection-site irritation. Tips: eat smaller meals, avoid high-fat or spicy foods, stay hydrated. Do not escalate your dose while symptomatic. Contact your provider for guidance. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of pancreatitis (severe abdominal pain), serious allergic reaction, or vision changes. Tell your provider about all medications you take and all medical conditions you have before starting treatment.
